11/05/03 NanoLab awarded a Phase II SBIR contract for the development of carbon nanotube reinforced armor materials.
The SBIR Phase II contract, valued at $750,000 was awarded November 5th, 2003. The contract calls for NanoLab to develop carbon nanotube reinforced ceramic materials, such as boron carbide for personnel armor applications. In the Phase I effort, NanoLab demonstrated nanotube toughened composites, and will develop this material into an armor system over the next two years. This opportunity is the first in a number of composite applications we expect to drive the growth of nanotechnology and nanomaterials.
