Cromer Black is a highly laser tolerant coating that is ~96-97% absorbing from the visible to the near IR. NanoLab suggests this coating for beam dumps and other parts seeing high power laser fluence. Cromer Black has an impressive laser damage threshold of 15 kW/cm2 at a wavelength of 1064 nm. Data for this formulation was collected at National Institute of Standards and Technology, Boulder:

  • NanoLab formulates and applies this silicate-bound, carbon nanotube-based absorber in house to customer parts, using the same CNT used in our other paints and coatings. It is not available for individual sale.
Parts suitable for this coating include metals that can withstand a 140C baking temperature, which is used to cure the coating. Coating thickness is typically ~10 micron, and has demonstrated good adhesion to copper, aluminum, glass, and stainless steel. For coating of customer parts, see our
